Freezing Your Denim

I’ve thrashed around in my selvage denim for 7 months now, it was starting to smell like a club which allowed smoking. Febreeze used to make it smell like flowers, but the bacteria triumphing over it prompted me to resort to the next step of keeping jeans clean without washing; freezing my denim.

Waking up to find a filthy pair of jeans in the freezer would probably be my mother’s worst nightmare, but drastic smells calls for drastic actions. Here’s a step by step guide on how to freeze the smell-causing bacteria off your jeans.

Step One: Empty The Pockets
Wearing it almost everyday for 6 months has caused me to be tardy when it comes to emptying my pockets; I would just simply keep my Everyday Carry in there. But unless you want frozen solid earphones and lipbalm, take your time to double check those pockets.

Step Two: Fold The Jeans
Dust off whatever dirt off your jeans and gently fold them such that they will fit into a nice big ziplock. No need to crease them.

Step Three: Into The Bag
Put your jeans into a ziplock bag. Squeeze as much air out of the bag as possible before sealing it.

Step Four: Into The Freezer
Put it into the freezer. Some say one day some day one week, I say at least 2 hours.

Step Five: Enjoy
Let them warm up before taking them out of the ziplock to prevent unneccesary condensation. Enjoy your pair of cold but neutral smelling jeans. So will your friends.
