Takeshita Dori

If you come here on a Sunday, you’ll basically be fucked over by throngs of preadolescence teenagers browsing the many cheap stores, with the lack of quality and poor presentation being the main reason for the price. Prepare to be shoved and squeeze past various Nigerians touting aggressively to get you to look at 5-inch platform shoes and pink polka dot stockings. I would personally NEVER buy anything from here, but it depends mainly on your sense of style (or lack thereof).

Although shopping and buying crepes might very well be the only activity here, people watching is somewhat fun with bunny-eared kids and cute school girls representing most of what Japanese teenage culture is about. There ARE actually some shops worth visiting, like Daiso among others, but they aren’t what Takeshita Dori is about. This street is about wild fashion, teenage freedom and expression of one’s youth!
