I don’t usually celebrate a departure, but in Japan, it’s a rule to have a sayonara party before you leave. We ended up joining Hendrik and his friends at an izakaya in Kabukicho called ALPS, where low prices and casual atmosphere seems to be well catered to students and gaijins. It was my last few days and the yen in my pocket was running out fast, so this was a great place to make new friends and hang out with old friends. Two of my favourite activities and that’s made a fantastic sayonara party! Can’t wait to come back.
